Industrial Method to Decrease Sulfur Dioxide Emissions from Catalytic Cracking Units in Refineries: A Case Study


Abstract:

This study was focused to remove SO2 gaseous pollution in a scrubbing process. A blend of gaseous SO2, CO2, N2, O2 combination, which simulated furnace exhaust, was fed to the scrubber. Test was performed at various SO2 entering concentrations and results were achieved in a steady state condition. Furthermore operational condition of absorption tower behavior on temperature changing and flow rate changing was investigated. Final SO2 outlet concentration was checked by TESETO detector which was lesser than 4 ppm in this range. Optimum PH for absorbing process was detected 4 ppm and deducted results shown in this operation condition above 99% absorption is achievable.
