Liquid-Liquid Equilibrium Data for Mixtures of (Water + Formic Acid + 1-OCTANOL) at 308 K


Abstract:

Liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data for (water + formic acid + 1-octanol) system were determined at atmospheric pressure over the temperature of 308.15K. A type-1 LLE phase diagram was obtained for this ternary system. The LLE data were correlated using the NRTL and the UNIQUAC models, and the binary interaction parameters were calculated. The root mean square deviations between the observed and calculated mass fractions were 0.75% and 2.27% for UNIQUAC and NRTL models, respectively. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were measured to evaluate the extracting capability of the solvent.
