5the Effect of Different Methods of Compatibility to Improve the Properties of Nanocomposites Polyethylene/ Polyamide

Abstract:

Nowadays, the physical mixture of two or more polymers to obtain new polymeric compounds with improved performance has become the focus of attention. The polyethylene/polyamide6 blend is widely used in the automotive and packaging industries. The main reason for blending of Polyolefin and Polyamide enhanced the unique properties of polyamide such as stiffness, moisture absorption and easy processability and performance of polyethylene including hardening and thermal stability and resistance to oxygen and solvent. However due to the weak interfacial adhesion between polyethylene and polyamide, mixing the two polymer leads to a heterogeneous morphology with distinct spherical domains of dispersed phase. Thus, the polymer mixture is immiscible and incompatibility of the two phases effect the final properties such as thermal and mechanical properties, resistance to impact and cause poor performance of the final product. In this regard, various methods such as the presence of nanoclays, the use of a compatibilizer, use electron beam and etc. For better compatibility between the phases of the blend have been used. In this article aimed to be investigated the role of various factors on the morphology of the PE / PA6 blend.
