Corrosion protection of the metal is one the most serious problems that mankind has to face. In order to reduce corrosion impact and increase service life of metallic structures protective coatings are applied. Nano coatings are important due to their unique properties that may lead to new and exciting application in corrosion preventing. Nano coatings have several advantages such as better surface appearance, good chemical resistance, better thermal and electrical conductivity and better corrosion resistance. Improvements in environmental impact can be achieved utilizing nanostructure particles in coating and eliminating the requirement of toxic solvents. This review highlights the most recent trends in the field of nano coatings for corrosion protection of metallic materials in a wide range of technical applications.
